Patna, Oct. 9: A 22-year-old girl was allegedly raped for over a month by a doctor after he made an MMS clip during a surgery on August 15 and then continuously blackmailed her by threatening to make public the pictures.
The girl, a BCom student at a college in Paliganj, around 35km from Patna, went missing from her home late last month, a few days after she told the family about her ordeal.
She was recovered this morning in a semi-conscious state near the Danapur railway station by some local residents.
She was admitted to the Danapur Railway Hospital where police took her statement in which she narrated her trauma.
In her statement, the girl said she was staying in the Raja Bazar area with her elder sister and brother-in-law. Her father is a policeman posted in Bhojpur district, 50km from Patna.
The girl, police sources said, had stated that she went to the doctor on August 15 for a stone surgery.
“According to her initial statement, the girl was allegedly raped by the doctor the same day and then he made an MMS clip of her. Following that, the doctor allegedly used to call the girl and threaten to circulate the clip if she didn’t visit his private clinic. There she was repeatedly tied up, gagged and raped by the doctor. Then, suddenly on the morning of September 26, the girl disappeared from her home in Raja Bazar. Apparently, the girl had told her family a few days ago about her ordeal. The next day, the family lodged a named FIR against the doctor and two others at the local Rajeev Nagar police station. The police managed to arrest one of them,” a police officer told The Telegraph.
The doctor, whose name The Telegraph is withholding as the police have so far not pressed charges against him, is admitted in a heart hospital for the last three days.
“At present, things are not very clear as the girl’s detailed statement is still to be taken. Right now, the police are awaiting the medical report of the girl and further investigations are taking place,” said Vivekananda, deputy superintendent of police (law and order).
The police said several questions were yet to be answered. “If the family knew about the girl’s ordeal, why didn’t they come to the police immediately? The police need to know when the girl’s family came to know about all this and how the girl suddenly vanished from her home and where and in what state she was all this time. The role of the doctor needs to be ascertained too,” another police officer said.
