Gurap case

Chinsurah, Oct. 8: The CID has submitted the chargesheet in the Gurap case where an inmate of a home for destitute women died an “unnatural death” on June 30.

“We have arrested 11 persons, including the secretary of the home, Uday Chand Kumar. They have been charged with murder,” Shankar Chakraborty, the deputy inspector general (operations) of the CID, told the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Hooghly’s Chinsurah.

A CID officer ruled out charges of sexual assault, saying there was no such evidence in the post-mortem report.
