Colombo: Sanath Jayasuriya, an outstanding batsman for years, who is now a Member of Parliament (MP), feels that “nothing is easy.”
“I won’t say that politics is easier than cricket or that cricket was easier... Nothing is easy,” Jayasuriya, a former Sri Lanka captain, told The Telegraph.
Now 43, Jayasuriya retired from all formats in the summer of 2011. He’s been an MP from Matara for two-and-a-half years.
Jayasuriya is from President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance.
Arjuna Ranatunga, the more seasoned politician and the 1996 World Cup-winning captain, is in the opposition.
