Rajesh Bhattacharya, a junior doctor at MR Bangur Hospital, was sacked on Sunday for allegedly being drunk while treating patients and pushing the superintendent.
Trouble began when Bhattacharya, a house staff in the orthopaedic department, went to administer drip to Badal Das, on Sunday afternoon.
“He was so drunk that he could barely stand,” alleged a relative of Das. “When the superintendent came to the spot, the junior doctor pushed him.”
“We have sacked the doctor and started a probe,” said Shikha Adhikary, chief medical officer of health, South 24-Parganas.
