Policemen lead tally

Imphal, Oct. 5: North Imphal Sporting Association held North Eastern Reorganisation Cultural Association to a goalless draw to split a point each in the 7th Manipur State League at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.

Both the teams had their chances but credit should be given to the goalkeepers.

Patrick Kamei of NISA and Th. Roshan Singh and Md Sohail Shah of North Eastern Reorganisation were awarded yellow cards.

With 15 matches remaining in the league, which is being played on a single leg basis, Manipur Police Sports Club lead the league with 16 points.

Anouba Imagi Mangal, Southern Sporting Union, Tiddim Road Athletic Union and North Eastern Reorganisation Cultural Association have 14 points each from seven matches.

North Imphal Sporting Association have 10 points from seven matches, United Sporting Association have 10 points, Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union and Kuki Sporting Club have seven points from eight matches.

Jsongtun Youth Club have four points and Eastern Sporting Union have three from seven matches.

College volleyball

Manipur University moved into the final of the MU Inter-college men and women’s volleyball tournament 2012-13 played at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium today.

In the men’s first semi-final, Manipur University outplayed DM College of Sciences by 3-0 sets with 25-15, 25-17, 25-21 points en route to the final.

Earlier in the quarter-final, Manipur University proceeded to the semi-final, beating Thambal Marik College with 25-20, 25-13, 25-17 points.

DM College of Sciences were awarded a walkover over Thambal Marik College.

In the women’s category, Manipur University will meet DM College of Commerce in the final tomorrow.

Six men’s teams and two women’s team are participating in the tournament.

Football league

The District Sports Association, Kakching will hold the 6th Grassroots School Football League 2012 from October 14 onwards at Kakching ground. The schools have to register for participation on or before October 11 at DSA, Kakching.
