Guwahati, Oct. 4: A 12-year-old girl, Anisha Singh, succumbed to suspected dengue at GNRC Hospitals today.
A resident of East Gotanagar in Maligaon, Anisha was admitted to Marwari Hospital and Research Centre with suspected dengue but shifted to GNRC Hospitals on Saturday.
“Though doctors treating the patient gave the cause of her death as dengue, we are yet to receive her blood report from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital confirming the disease,” said S. Choudhury, joint director of Kamrup (metro) health services.
Ramen Talukdar, GMCH superintendent, said, “We cannot confirm whether we have received the sample but there should not be any fear, as dengue cases are bound to go down with onset of winter.”
