Moves from ramp to floor

A poolside party, peppy Bollywood numbers and pretty models sashaying down the ramp — what could be a better way to build up the festive mood?

With a series of pujas and celebrations lined up over the next few months, Ranchi Club is all out to add to the entertainment quotient with a fashion show and DJ night on Friday. The first-of-its-kind carnival, meant for members of the club, will kick off from 8pm and will be on till 2pm.

Club authorities have roped in Mumbai-based DJ Varsha to keep the guests on toes all night while around 12 models from Mumbai and Calcutta will walk down the ramp. Femina Miss India Earth 2002 Reshmi Ghosh and Miss Tourism 2007 Priyanka Shah will be there to jazz up the show.

“This is an innovative plan to provide wholesome entertainment to the guests. It’s the first time that we are organising such a fashion show and DJ night near the swimming pool,” said Jyoti Bajaj, chairperson of the club’s entertainment committee.

Bajaj added that the entire programme would be conducted in the pool for which a special stage will be constructed on the water.

“Both the models and the DJ will use this stage to be set up by technicians from Calcutta. The fashion show will be held first followed by the dance party,” she added.

According to the president of Ranchi Club, Sunil Verma, the concept of a fashion show and DJ night was unique in Ranchi. “This is the first club in the state to host such a show. The idea was to develop a rapport with members and present them with a perfect opportunity to let their hair down and have some fun in the run-up to the festive season,” Verma said.

At present, there are 1,310 members on the club’s rolls and many are looking forward to unwind themselves at the bash.

“It will be an altogether different experience. We will watch the fashion show on water while munching on our favourite snacks,” said an excited Nishi, a member of the club.
