Calcutta: C.K. Vineeth scored the winner in the 85th minute as Prayag United SC rallied to beat Aryan Club 2-1 in a Calcutta Football League Premier Division match, at the Salt Lake Stadium, here on Wednesday. Bello Rassaq equalised for United SC in the 65th minute after Michael Tayo gave the lead to Aryan.
United SC coach Sanjoy Sen rested most of his first team players in a bid to test his reserves ahead of the I-League, which starts from Saturday. With the fringe players taking time to settle down, United SC looked a disjointed unit in the first half.
It was in the 14th minute when Michael Tayo gave the lead to Aryan. He brilliantly headed in a Sukanta Banerjee cross from the left.
United SC had to wait till the 65th minute before Bello levelled the score. Bello’s right-footer found the back of the net after Malswamtluanga made a centre to him.
Aryan could have taken the lead again in the 73rd minute but Agwu Richard failed to net a penalty. Ishan Debnath dived to his left to save the shot.
In the 85th minute, Vineeth headed in Lalkamal Bhowmick’s cross to help his team to a win.
