AIFF yet to clear dues

New Delhi: With three days to go for the I-League kick-off, several clubs are yet to receive the cash awards and participation fees due from the last season’s league.

An official of Dempo Sports Club said the federation was yet to pay them the winners’ purse of Rs. 70 lakh.

“We have written to them on several occasions but all we received are assurances,” said the official. “We really don’t know when we will receive the prize money,” he added.

Senior Churchill Brothers official Churchill Alemao also made a similar complaint on Wednesday. “Ahead of the I-League, I want to raise a point regarding non payment of prize money. The AIFF still owes us Rs. 55 lakh towards prize money, transport, accommodation as well as money promised for fielding an under-19 developmental team,” said Alemao in a statement.

A federation official, however, said the money would be cleared very soon.
