Biramangol College claim twin titles

inter-college handball

Imphal, Oct. 2: Biramangol College Sawombung claimed the men and women’s champions titles of the Capt. S. Ingo Singh Championship Trophy for the MU Inter College Handball Tournament 2012-13 held at Manipur University sports complex today.

In the women’s final, Biramangol College overcame DM College of Sciences by 17-15 points. Sanjita Devi and Helena Devi topscored with five goals each for Biramangol College and Nanda Devi scored four, Juliana Devi made two and Yaiphabi Devi scored one. Sunitibala Devi’s marathon effort of 14 goals went in vain for DM College while Bidyalaxmi Devi chipped in with one goal.

In the men’s final, Biramangol College beat Regional College by 26-17 goals.

Raju Singh topscored for Biramangol College, scoring 10 goals, while Taibanganba made six goals, Pravin Singh made four goals, Sanjesh Singh scored three goals, Shyamsunder Singh with two goals and Sunil Singh scored one goal. The goal contributors for Regional College were Robinson with six goals, Sidhartha (five goals), Seityabrata (three goals), Ronal (two goals) and Warjit with one goal.

Second division football: SUN Club thrashed Pishum UPC by 3-1 goals in the Imphal West Second Division Football League Tournament at YWC Malom ground. SUN Club’s Loken Singh hit the net in the fifth minute but Pishum UPC came back with Nelson Singh, fetching the equaliser in the 10th minute. Amarjit Singh put SUN Club ahead with a grounder in the 23rd minute and Samananda Singh shot home an easy goal in the 25th minute for the victory.

In another match, SAI RC had a goalless draw against South Imphal Cultural Organisation to share a point each.

Sepak takraw: Youth Amateur Welfare Association (B) overcame MPSC (A) 3-2 in the 1st NSYC Sepak Takraw Championship at Samurou in Imphal West. In the other group A matches, host team NSYC beating MPSC and in the group B match, MPSC (B) defeated Public Club.
