Safety musts for all Puja pandals

Gearing up for accident-free festivities, East Singhbhum administration held its first meeting with central peace committee and Jamshedpur Durga Puja Kendriya Samiti on Monday.

Dhalbhum subdivisional officer (SDO) Subodh Kumar, who presided over the meeting, asked Jusco to prepare dos and don’ts for fire and power safety, which would be displayed at all pandals.

“From this year, we have made this display a must for pandals,” said the SDO. “We have asked Puja committees to take steps against fire and electricity. To monitor if Puja committees are abiding by directives, the administration will form a vigil team of Samiti members and civil defence personnel,” Kumar said, adding if the team reported violations, the Puja pandal concerned would be showcaused.

Jusco, TRF, Tata Motors, Lafarge, Tata Power and Tinplate were asked to ensure lights at 12 immersion points.

Jamshedpur and Mango notified area committees, Jugsalai Municipality and Jusco have been asked to ensure road repairs and install lights. Deputy superintendents of traffic and law and order, R.M. Sinha and Kanhaiyan Upadhyay have been asked to chalk out traffic routes.
