The Howrah-bound Duronto Express from Mumbai was stranded for nearly two-and-a-half hours at Sini station in Jharkhand on Monday afternoon following a snag.
The wheel and axle of the B3 coach, an AC three-tier bogie, were malfunctioning because of a problem in the brakes, said an official.
The stationmaster at Mahalimarup, in the Chakradharpur-Tata section, detected the snag and alerted the authorities. The coach was detached from the train once it reached the next station, Sini, at 3.30pm.
Some of the passengers in the coach were accommodated in other coaches. The others were shifted to the Howrah-bound Janshatabdi Express. The Duronto left Sini at 5.55pm.
