Nearly 100 candidates could not appear for the first Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission exam in the city on Sunday due to confusion over their admit cards and centres.
Sources said the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission had issued admit cards to all the prospective candidates in the first week of September. But it later decided to update the admit cards and add some new centres. The candidates, through advertisements published in newspapers two weeks ago, were then asked to download the new and updated admit cards.
However, many failed to spot the advertisement and turned up at the wrong centre.
“According to my admit card, my centre was at Gyandeep Vidyalaya, Birsanagar. However, on turning up at the school I was informed that my centre had been shifted. I made it to Rajasthan Vidya Mandir in Sakchi with only half an hour remaining for the scheduled end of the exam,” complained Dheeraj Kumar, an examinee.
There were also reports about seven examinees with old admit cards being turned away from Al Kabir Polytechnic in Mango by the invigilators.
Sources said some students tried to protest and disrupt the examination at three centres but they were stopped by the security guards.
