That Shoojit Sircar is hopping mad that Vicky Donor wasn’t in Oscar contention is well known. Just days ago, the director had issued a statement, venting his ire at the selection committee and producers Eros Entertainment for ignoring his Ayushmann Khurrana-Yami Gautam sleeper hit that dealt with sperm donation.
“I’m very disheartened, disappointed and angry that one of this year’s most original high-concept story was not even considered by the producers of the film to be sent for the jury’s consideration,” thundered the Bengali director. And now it looks like fellow Bong Anurag Basu’s Barfi! being given top honours hasn’t gone down too well with the Vicky Donor team. On Thursday, the film’s writer Juhi Chaturvedi’s tweet to Sircar took a dig at Barfi!, alluding to the fact that the film is in the eye of a storm after being caught directly lifting scenes from a number of films. Juhi’s tweet to Sircar read ‘Everything about #Vickydonor is original. Isn’t that a great feeling to sleep and wake up with?!’ Ahem!
