Five in net for UP girl gangrape

Patna, Sept. 28: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by a group of five at the residence of Rajendra Prasad Singh, the Congress MLA from Bermo in Jharkhand.

All five have been arrested.

However, the MLA was not present at the West Patel Nagar house, which is being renovated, Patna City SP Jayant Kant said this evening.

Kant said the girl, a resident of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh, was missing for four days, according to her family members.

Around five this morning, she was found in a semi-conscious state near Patna Railway Junction by a police patrol team.

In her statement, the victim named five persons. She had been sent to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for tests, the officer added.

“We have gathered that the prime accused, identified as Neeraj, is the caretaker of the house and also a distant relative of the girl. The others have been identified as Purushottam, Ravi, Ranjit and Tulsi. We have picked up all the five persons,” Kant said, adding that it could not be ascertained whether the girl had been abducted or not.

“The medical test reports will confirm when the girl, who is still under treatment at PMCH, was gangraped,” he said. The police would talk to the victim later, Kant said, adding that her family had also been informed.
