Bankura, Sept. 28: A Bankura court today sentenced to life imprisonment seven persons for their involvement in Maoist activities.
Six of the accused were arrested on July 29, 2010, from the Beguashole forest in Bankura’s Raipur while the other was picked up a few days later from his home in Natundihi.
They were identified as Aditya Routh, the district secretary of the People’s Committee against Police Atrocities, Monu alias Manohar Hembram, Vidyasagar Tantubhai, Sudipto Mondal alias Lebu, Baburam Soren, Rajiv Khisku and Gadai Mahato. “They are aged between 24 and 48,” public prosecutor Ashim Roy said.
The lawyer said 202 detonators, 32 gelatine sticks, one pipe gun and four cartridges were seized from the seven.
