Imphal, Sept. 27: Naorem Youth Volleyball Association claimed a double victory, taking the 32nd Junior and 11th Sub-Junior titles of the State-Level Volleyball Tournament 2012 at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium today.
The final of the 32nd junior final saw Naorem Youth Volleyball Association overcome Kairembikhok Youth Sporting Union (B) in a nail-biting finish, claiming the title by 3-2 sets. They continued their winning spree, taking the 11th Sub-Junior title, beating Irengbam SUWC (A) by 3-0 sets.
In the 4th women’s title match, Mutum Phibou SYDA beat Naorem Youth Volleyball Association by 3-1 sets. In the 11th mini-final, Khoijuman KYVA defeated Irengbam SUWC (A) for the title.
State league
United Sporting Association stunned North Imphal Sporting Association by 2-0 goals to collect full points in the 7th Manipur State League 2012 at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.
The win propelled United Sporting Association to 10 points, while North Imphal Sporting Association has six points. United Sporting Association sprang a surprise in the 30th minute with L. Milan Singh finding the nets to post a one-goal lead in the first half.
Defending champions North Imphal Sporting Association failed to rise to the occasion. United Sporting Association came up with the winning goal in the 90th minute from A. Binesh for the victory.
In the other match, Kuki Sporting Club had a goalless draw against Jsongtun Youth Club to share a point each.
3rd division football: Birchandra Memorial Sporting Club Toubungkhok beat Malom Tuliyaima Sporting Union by 4-1 goals in the inaugural match of the Imphal West 3rd Division Football Tournament at YWC Malom ground. Bickychand struck twice while W. Rojesh and Singhajit scored a goal each for Birchandra Memorial. Surchand fetched the lone goal for Malom Tuliyaima.
