Bokaro, Sept. 27: Principal, session and district judge of Bokaro G.K. Chowdhry today pronounced six persons guilty of the murder of Ganesh Mahto, younger brother of Dumri MLA Jagannath Mahto, who was shot dead at his Bhandaridah (Chandrapura) home on August 27, 2009.
One accused, Murtaza Ansari, was freed as no evidence was found of his involvement in the case.
The sentence for the guilty booked under Section 302, 302/34 and 120(B) of IPC will be pronounced tomorrow.
Those found guilty are Krishna Prasad Mahto, the main conspirator, contract killer Madan Turi and his associate Mohammad Jafir Ansari, besides Usman Ansari, Shafik Ansari and Khurshid Ansari.
Another accused, Mukesh Mahto, is still absconding.
According to the police, building contractor Krishna Mahto conspired with business partner Khurshid Ansari to set hired killers Madan Turi, Zafir Ansari, Usman Ansari and Shafik Ansari on Ganesh on August 27 because the latter and his MLA brother had allegedly cheated him of Rs 27 lakh.
Krishna had built a petrol station for Jagannath Mahto and was not paid for the job. This prompted him to hire killers for Rs 3.5 lakh.
Special prosecutor S.N Dey told The Telegraph today he was hoping for death penalty for the main conspirators.
When contacted, the Dumri MLA said he had full faith in the judiciary and was confident of getting justice.
“But I am still sad as my brother will not come back,” a tearful Mahto said.
