The Jharkhand State Cricket Association has earmarked three cities — Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Dhanbad — for holding trials for selecting senior Ranji and U-25 squads. The trial matches will begin from September 28.
The officials said nearly 60 players, who had been shortlisted for the Ranji and U-25 camps, would turn up for four separate teams — Jharkhand Yellow, Jharkhand Red, Jharkhand Green and Jharkhand Blue — during the trials and pit their talents against each other.
The best among the lot would be included in the Ranji and U-25 squads.
While Ranji regulars Shahbaz Nadeem, Saurabh Tiwary, Ishank Jaggi and Keshav Kumar would aim to pick up their game and find form during the practise matches, a host of others would be looking to impress the selectors for bagging a berth.
“A total of six trial matches have been scheduled, each of which would be played out for a period of three days. The players are expected to put in their best during the matches as their selection into the state squads will depend on it,” said JSCA assistant secretary Ashim Kumar Singh.
All the players have been asked to report at their respective match venues on Thursday.
While state Ranji skipper Nadeem will lead the Jharkhand Yellow team, Tiwary has been given charge of the Jharkhand Red outfit. Keshav Kumar will be the skipper of Jharkhand Green, whereas Jaggi will be at the head of the Jharkhand Blue team.
