Dope tests on three Indians

Calcutta: Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin were dope tested during the Indian team’s practice session at the Colts Cricket Ground in Colombo, on Tuesday.

There’s, however, nothing to be alarmed as such dope tests are a feature of all International Cricket Council (ICC) events.

Initially there was confusion whether Yuvraj Singh was also dope tested but the team management later clarified that his sample wasn’t taken.

The all-rounder has made a successful return to international cricket this month after battling a rare germ cell cancer. It may be recalled that Yuvraj had been tested during the tournament’s last edition in 2010.

The dope tests were first introduced during the 2003 World Cup.
