Nagaon, Sept. 25: The blast of a timer device sparked tension in Dima Hasao district’s industrial town Umrangso (Umrangsu), which has been free of any major law and order problem in the past two years.
According to Umrangsu police, a tribal youth was travelling on foot with an explosive device in hand through a residential area, 3km from Umrangsu town around 12.30am. “The device exploded and the youth died on the spot,” said a police source.
Dima Hasao superintendent of police M.J. Mahanta said the body of the youth carrying the device was completely mutilated.
