Off-Screen, t2 Style-Checks Kareena’s Top Promo Looks For Heroine With Help From Her Stylist Tanya Ghavri

My top three looks are the black Osman dress at a magazine cover launch (picture 1), the Emanuel Ungaro for the Main heroine hoon song launch (picture 2) and her first appearance for the film, at the trailer launch — a red jumpsuit (picture 3). I love these three looks because they are just so different from each other. Kareena hasn’t been seen like this before.

What was the biggest challenge of putting together so many looks back-to-back for Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine promotions?

The real challenge was that each and every look had to be beautifully put together so that she could look like a ‘heroine’ in every one of them. I did intensive research on what could work for her. There was a promotional wardrobe created for Kareena for the entire tour wherein we called for clothes from Indian as well as international designers, multiple trials were done and looks were put together in advance. And the biggest challenge was to make sure that each was different from the last one.

Kareena is such a jeans-tee kind of a girl. But for the promotions, she has been a real fashionista?

Kareena actually loves fashion and she loves shopping for beautiful shoes, clothes, bags etc. But she is also someone who dresses up only for an occasion, otherwise she much rather be comfortable! It really wasn’t tough to dress up someone who already loves wearing good things. It was actually fun and stress-free!

What’s the nicest compliment you’ve received about her looks?

From one of Kareena’s closest friends. She told me that Bebo has never looked better! I was so humbled because I mean, it’s Kareena — she always looks good but I was so happy to hear that I could make a difference. And coming from her closest friend I knew it was genuine.

Is there any particular style or designer you haven’t worked on her yet but would love to?

I haven’t put Bebo in an Anamika Khanna yet but would love her to wear a complete Anamika once. And on the right occasion, I will definitely!

Have you seen the movie?

Yes! I could not believe that anyone could do a role like that. It was so difficult to pull off and that too with so much restraint, maturity and emotional balance. She looked stunning in every frame — whether she had no make-up on or was fully dolled up. She truly is the only and real ‘heroine’.

Finally, what’s next for super-stylist Tanya?

Haha! I’m just someone who enjoys every minute of her work and has fun with it. I take my work seriously just to the right amount, so I can try new things. I’m doing a string of endorsements with Kareena all of October. I might be doing a film soon, if all works out well... let’s hope!
