Tolgay blow to Bagan

Calcutta: Tolgay Ozebe’s hamstring injury, which he suffered during the Federation Cup opener against Churchill Brothers, turned out to be more serious than what the McDowell Mohun Bagan team management had thought.

The Australian striker has been ruled out for a week and will only play a part if Santosh Kashyap’s men qualify for the final, scheduled for September 30.

Tolgay said he suffered a minor tear on the hamstring.

“I have a minor tear on the lateral hamstring and I should be fit within a week.

“If we reach the final, I think I will be able to play that match,” Tolgay said on the eve of Bagan’s Air India match.

Tolgay’s injury comes at a time when Kashyap is facing the heat after a not-so-impressive goalless draw against Churchill Brothers.

With no Tolgay, Bagan will rely on their Okolie Odafe to get the goals.

Though the Nigerian is yet to get into shape, one cannot deny the fact that he change the fate of a match single-handedly. Youngster and in-form CS Sabeeth is expected to partner Odafe upfront.
