United edge past Tiddim Road

Imphal, Sept. 21: United Sporting Association posted a solitary goal win against Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union in the 7th Manipur State League 2012 at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.

The win provided United Sporting Association altogether seven points from two wins and one drawn match and a defeat.

Tiddim Road Unique Gamy are yet to open their account from the four matches they have played so far.

Tiddim Road Unique Gamy played a much better game. However, the lack of an efficient striker cost them dear.

United Sporting Association stole the show with the winning goal in the 79th minute when L. Sanatomba Singh, after collecting a left goalline pass, scored before the Tiddim keeper could react.

In another match, Anouba Imagi Mangal defeated Kuki Sporting Club by 4-1 goals to occupy the top spot with 12 points.

The Anouba Imagi Mangal team managed two early goals through H. Dayananda in the 27th minute and N. Jimmy Singh in the 28th minute.

Kh. Naoton Singh got the third goal in the 43rd minute for a 3-0 goal lead.

In the second half, Kh. Naoton Singh scored Anouba Imagi Mangal’s fourth goal in the 64th minute and Kuki Sporting Club managed to pull back one through G. Ngulkhosiem in the 69th minute. Kuki Sporting Club have three points and three defeats in the league.

Women’s volleyball: Mutum Phibou SYDA registered a 2-0 set victory against Naorem NYVA 25-13, 25-17 in the opening match of the 4th Women’s State-Level Volleyball Tournament at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium today.

Mayang Imphal MKSPO got the better of Lamkang Khunjai LKYC 25-23, 25-17 in another match.

CEM Cup: The third quarterfinal match of the 8th CEM Cup football tournament between 119 Territorial Army and Youth Organisation Sporting Club, Imphal at N.L. Daologupu sports complex in Haflong was cancelled after a few minutes of play because of heavy rain on Friday evening, writes our correspondent from Nagaon. Borok FC, Agartala will play FC Bethlehem in another quarter-final match on Saturday.
