Ranchi, Sept. 21: Jharkhand High Court today clamped a stay on Vinoba Bhave University registrar E.N. Siddiqui’s salary for violating its order.
Justice D.N. Patel, while hearing a contempt petition filed by one S.P. Singh, passed the directive and ordered the high court registry to communicate the same to the office of chancellor of universities.
Singh, a designated demonstrator in VBU had challenged a notification issued by the HRD department in 2007 that prevented demonstrators from claiming benefits at par with that of the varsity teaching staff.
In a separate judgement, the high court quashed the criminal proceedings initiated against Garhwa MLA S. N. Tiwary.
