Garo hills bandh next week

Shillong, Sept. 20: The anti-corruption wing of the breakaway faction of A’chik National Volunteer Council, the ANVC (B), today announced that a two-hour bandh would be observed in Garo hills from September 24 to 28 from 10am to noon.

The bandh has been called to pressure Purno K. Sangma, chief executive member of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, to resign. “All lessees of haats and markets, gates and monopolies, are hereby asked to stop their collection from Monday onwards. All settlements made by Sangma holds no value to us, as he misused the power of being the chief of a Sixth Schedule institution for his personal gain,” the ANVC (B) said.
