Imphal, Sept. 19: Jsongtun Youth Club registered their first victory with a 2-0 victory against Eastern Sporting Union in the 7th Manipur State League at Khuman Lampak main stadium.
The much needed win came for Jsongtum, after consecutive defeats in earlier matches, to boost their performance in the league and collect three points. Eastern Sporting have played four matches with one win and three defeats.
Jongstun opened the account in the 38th minute after Lalneo Khongsai shot home for the lead.
They exerted more pressure and got their second goal, with Letjahao Kipgen pushing home an easy goal collecting a long cross from Helkhohao Vaiphei in the 73rd minute for the victory.
Jsongtun players Hekhup Simte, Helkhohao Vaiphei and Eastern Sporting player L. Kuber got a yellow card.
Selected: The AIFF selected three women referees Chim Chim Serto, T. Ranjita and N. Sunanda Devi for the women referee development course to be held in Cuttack from November 13-20.
Fencing: The Manipur Fencing Association has named 24 fencers for the 20th Junior National Fencing Championship 2012 to be held in Raipur from October 16-20.
GRA election: Former Assam Football Association joint secretary Tapan Chandra Hazarika was elected general secretary of the Guwahati Referees’ Association in its annual general meeting held at Assam Olympic Association office premises here on Sunday, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati. Nagendra Nath Barman was retained as president. The GRA also felicitated veteran members Pulin Das, Nripendra Narayan Singha and Jakir Ahmed in the meeting.
