Board bid to promote painters

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited schools to send in paintings by their students to promote young talents.

Every school would send three best entries from among students of classes IX to XII.

The board would constitute a three-member screening committee to select the best painting. The theme of the painting would be education and school. Sources said the board would acknowledge the student with a brief profile. However, the medium of acknowledgement is yet to be decided.

The students would have to send their entries through their schools to the board by October 5. The schools can also send online entries.

The students are excited to get an opportunity to promote their talent.

Vaibhavi Prerna, a Class IX student of Baldwin Academy, said: “If my school gives me the opportunity to participate in the event, I will definitely go for it. I will try my best so that my efforts are recognised. As the topic is related to education, it would help me assess how far my imagination can go. The topic is difficult but we can use our imagination to a great extent and assess ourselves.”

Rahul, a student of St Karen’s Secondary School, said: “I am fond of painting since childhood. I find this step as an opportunity and will surely participate in it. Several of my friends are interested in painting and I am sure they would like to participate in this programme.”
