Health hubs face date heat

Patna, Sept. 19: The high court today directed the Patna AIIMS director and the Guru Govind Singh Hospital superintendent to inform it by September 25 on the steps taken to start treatment of patients.

A bench of Justice Prakash Chandra Verma and Justice Aditya Kumar Trivedi passed the directive while hearing a PIL by NGO Council for Protection of Public Right and Welfare seeking expeditious completion of Jai Prakash Narayan Institute of Medical Sciences to ensure that treatment can be started by October 2 this year, as fixed by the court on June 29 last year.

Expressing its displeasure over the non-compliance of its order for removal of garbage from the city hospital, the court also directed Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner to be present in court on the next date of hearing on September 26 and explain why the civic body neither complied with its order nor care for filing a reply in this regard.

The state electricity board assured the bench that it would install a transformer before September 24 at Guru Govind Singh Hospital, which has been attached with JPNAIIMS for starting the treatment in the emergency and trauma wards.
