Colombo: Afghanistan captain Nawroz Mangal is hoping that his side would spring a surprise or two in the World T20.
“We are drawn with the defending World T20 champions (England) and defending ODI champions (India). We are ready for this challenge,” said Mangal.
“I am sure that our performance will be much improved and better against these full members. Ireland and Netherlands have shown that full members can be beaten. We are hoping to replicate that.”
Mangal said his team was well prepared for the challenge.
“We have prepared well for the last 45 days. The morale of the team is very high. This time the expectation from our fans are also different from last time we qualified for World Twenty20 in 2010,” said Mangal.
“The fans are expecting us to not just put up a good show against associate and affiliate members, but also against the full members. We hope that we can live up to their expectations.”
