The results of the mid-term election of Dhanbad Bar Association, the process of which started on September 15, were declared on Sunday.
Kansari Mandal was announced the president of the association, while Devi Sharan Sinha became the new general secretary.
The mid-term vote was held for 21 posts that included one each for the chairs of president, general secretary and treasurer, three for the vice-presidents, three joint secretaries and 12 governing council members.
Mandal, who secured 704 votes, beat Radhey Shyam Goswami by a margin of 322. Altogether four candidates contested for the president’s post.
Devi Sharan Sinha, who secured 598 votes, said: “Maintaining democracy in the association will be my priority.”
While the post for senior vice-president of the association was won by Bhagirath Jha by bagging 537 votes, K.D. Sharma and Somnath Chaudhary won the two other posts of vice-president.
Madhusudan Chandra Chakraborty won the seat of the treasurer by securing 277 votes, while Chandra Deo Prasad Sao, Kedar Nath Mahto and Piyush Kumar Tiwari became the three joint secretaries of the association.
