| A moment from Anamika’s Couture Week 2012 show |
Raima wears a Kalakshetra sari from CIMA Art in Life 2012 teamed with Anamika Khanna pants and blouse. The sari drape, inspired by Anamika, is edgy — a definite departure from tradition while retaining its timeless appeal. The neckpieces, also from CIMA, are conversation-starters and together they talk up a storm! Smokey eyes, neutral mouth and creamy sheen on the cheeks balance the very cool hairdo.
“For me, the sari is the most magical six yards. I keep thinking of ways to make it less cumbersome and more modern and sharper, without losing its elegance. The sari needs to go around the world and while we are okay with a petticoat and blouse, the West doesn’t understand the concept. In the need to reinvent the sari, we started draping and experimenting with pants and a stretch blouse... and voila, we had found the look!”
