Talks delay

Guwahati, Sept. 15: The NDFB (P) today said the recent violence in BTAD had delayed the progress of its peace talks with the Centre. General secretary of the outfit, Govinda Basumatary, said they have not yet been able to meet the new home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

Appointment: Circle officer of Barpeta revenue circle, S.T. Rahman, has been appointed the assisting officer to additional district magistrate, Barpeta, S.C. Saha, who is also the inquiry officer in the magisterial inquiry instituted to probe the violence at Beltola village, Khairabari, under Barpeta Road police station, on August 28.
