What: Plastic or nylon-knitted ballerinas.

Why we love it: Waterproof, soft on feet, comes in vibrant shades and you can pick a transparent pair too! We are talking about the knitted plastic ballerina shoes that almost every girl irrespective of age has fallen in love with.

There is a knitted nylon version too, if you want to avoid plastic. Their soaring popularity has made Bata stock an entire rack of these trendy yet smart shoes to fight puddles this monsoon.

Pocket Pinch: Rs 200 to Rs 350.

Peeve: If you are getting your pair from roadside stalls, you need to check thoroughly before you buy.

Shop Stop: If you want them from a store, there’s Bata. If not, look around in Gariahat, Esplanade or any other roadside shoe haven.

Youth speak: “They are comfortable, trendy and reasonably priced. And that’s a rare combination when it comes to footwear,” says Ankhi Nath of Jadavpur University.

What: Nutella. A hazelnut-based chocolate spread.

Why we love it: Crazy about the Ferrero Rocher? Nutella, manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero, is the creamy-gooey-chocolatey hazelnut centre of the Ferrero Rocher and it comes jar-full!

The best way to eat it? Right out of the jar with a spoon, of course! You can also use it as a sandwich filling, spread it on a Cracker or use it like a chocolate dip. Goes very well with peanut butter.

Pocket Pinch: Rs 195 for the 350gm jar.

Peeve: The calories. It is a nightmare for the calorie-conscious. If you are going to indulge you can kiss that diet goodbye. Addicts are known to sleepwalk to the fridge for a scoop of Nutella.

Shop Stop: Any good departmental store.

Youth speak: “It tastes like a scoop of heaven. The creaminess, the taste gets you addicted,” said law student Avinandan Kundu of National University of Juridical Sciences.
