Bengal school enters last 4

New Delhi: Kalyanghar Vidya Mandir of the state booked a semi-final berth in the under-14 section of the Subroto Cup inter-school football tournament, here on Wednesday, beating Simalguri High School of Assam 3-1.

Shanu Majumder scored a brace while Prakash Sarkar scored the other goal in the 32nd minute to help the team set up a semi-final clash with Government School of Meghalaya. Greenwood School (Nagaland) have already reached the final.

Meanwhile, the girls’ team of Rabia-e Balkhi School of Afghanistan arrived in the capital on Tuesday to take part in the girls under-17 section of the tournament. In the first match on Thursday, the Afghanistan team will take on NCC school of North-Eastern region.

An Afghanistan girls’ team took part in the Subroto Cup last year too. But they were disqualified after some of their players were found over age.
