Manish returns to the ramp in city he loves

Manish Malhotra

Bollywood badshah Manish Malhotra is back on the catwalk for a fashion week in Calcutta after three years. “Calcutta has its set way of style and sensibility and we are happy to be showcasing our brand of glamour there,” says Manish about the city he loves.

“I am always excited to come to Calcutta. I have great memories of the city, the people are so warm,” adds the designer.

The ramp will be flooded with sensual silhouettes that are synonymous with India’s glamour king.

The collection will feature an eclectic range of embroideries — from Kashmir to Mijwan. Oranges and fuchsias will bring alive the ensembles, flowing kurtas, lehngas and dramatic Anarkalis, and all that Manish is known for. Catch the ramp rage at Taj Bengal on September 17.

Born in Calcutta and having spent a lot of time in the city, designer Manoviraj Khosla is “very happy” to be showing here. “It is always nice to come back to Calcutta. Whenever I find an opportunity to come back and show in Calcutta, I do!” says the designer, who will be showing at The Park on September 17.

This time, Manoviraj is bringing both menswear and womenswear.

“We have lots of digital prints for women, nice, flowing dresses and lots of floral prints. For men, we are doing lots of colours as well as blacks for the evening and some off-white with texturisation. We’ve also got a little bit of tie-and-dye,” he says.

With the Pujas round the corner, what can Calcuttans look out for for their wardrobes from his collection? Manoviraj suggests digital print dresses for her and “colourful bandhgalas or organza-layered off-white jackets with black underneath” for him.

Rocking, we say!
