Imphal, Sept. 11: Bashikhong BYPC registered a solitary goal win against Lamlai LSIC in the Imphal East Ng. Boboy Memorial Second Division Football League Tournament 2012 played at Khuman Lampak sports complex today.
The Bashikhong team had a number of chances to score but got their act together in the 34th minute with Nilakanta Singh striking the lone winning goal for the victory.
In the other matches, Pungdongbam PYPC held Sekta SSC by 1-1 goals to share a point each.
L. Arunath Singh struck the early blow for Pumgdongbam in the fourth minute for the lead. However, Sekta jumped back into the game, with Th. Thegou fetching the equaliser in the 15th minute to level 1-1 till the final whistle.
Hatta Golapati MHGAU blasted Khongman SWC by 6-3 goals in another match.
National hockey: Manipur will meet Tripura in the final of the 64th National Hockey Tournament (men’s) for the North East Zone 2012 qualifying round at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium on Friday.
Bishorjit wins gold: Archer Y. Bishorjit Singh, representing Assam Rifles Archery Club, claimed the gold medal in the Indian round of the Inter-Club Archery Championship at Khuman Lampak sports complex. The Indian round final saw Bishorjit defeating Gaibidim Rongmei for the gold while Th. Langamba took the bronze.
Junior softball: The Manipur Softball Association will host the Junior National Softball Championship from November 20-25.
The selection trial for the Manipur team will be held on September 15-16.
