Fake currency

Tinsukia, Sept. 11: Two persons, Pranjal Saikia and Alex, were arrested on Tuesday for distributing fake currency with a face value of Rs 30,000 in Rs 10, Rs 20 and Rs 50 denominations at Margherita Tiniali on Changlang Road. They said the notes were given to them by Bijoy Nag from Bangladesh as samples.

Body found

Tinsukia: An unidentified body of a miner was found from Tirap coal mine in Margherita on Tuesday.

Rebel held

Tinsukia: Security forces on Tuesday caught Ulfa rebel (Paresh Barua faction) Rongmon Gogoi from Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh. A grenade and an IED were recovered from him.

Special train

Jorhat: A special train will leave from Guwahati for Bangalore and Chennai on September 20. Those interested to travel have to register themselves by submitting their name, age, gender, name of the place of work or educational institute, permanent address at the circle office or sub-divisional officer (civil) or at the deputy commissionerís office to avail free passage. Migrants

Jorhat: AJYCP activists caught seven men and seven women from Jorhat and Titabar on Tuesday alleging them to be Bangladeshi citizens and handed them over to police.

Arrested

Nalbari (PTI): Two women carrying 13kg ganja have been arrested at Nalbari, official sources said on Tuesday        Acting on a tip-off, CRPF jawans seized the contraband from a vehicle, coming from Guwahati.

Strike

Itanagar (PTI): Life came to a grinding halt at Itanagar on Tuesday following a 24-hour strike called by the Banderdewa Circle Intellectual Forum (BCIF). The bandh was total in Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa.
