New Delhi, Sept. 11: A 16-year-old girl from Assam, who worked as a domestic help, was confined in a house in west Delhi for eight days by four youths and raped, police said today.
The youths, who are attached to a placement agency, let her go last week only after her health deteriorated. “They hired an auto-rickshaw at night and asked her to leave. Two of the accused were arrested last night,” a police official said. The victim went to the house of an acquaintance and later approached the police seeking action against the four accused.
The victim had arrived in Delhi two years ago with a woman from her native town to look for a job. “The woman took her to a placement agency which got her a job as a maid. After 10 months, the agency sent her to Gujarat where she worked as a maid for nine months. A few months ago, she returned to Delhi and started working in a house at Rohini in west Delhi,” the official said.
On August 25, she again left her job and approached a local youth, Imran, to arrange a shelter for her where she could stay for a day and look for a job the next day.
Imran then called his three friends, Nawal Kishore, Lalu and Mithun, and took her to a house where they raped her. Her ordeal continued for another seven days. “Only when her condition deteriorated did they let her go,” the official said. A case was registered at Kayla police station after medical examination confirmed rape. Nawal and Lalu have been arrested. Hunt is on for the other two.
