Rathore for Rowdy Rathore

What’s the connect between Raghavendra Rathore and Akshay Rowdy Rathore Kumar?

Five years after he ventured into Bollywood, designing the look for Eklavya — The Royal Guard, Raghavendra Rathore has taken up the task of designing Akshay Kumar’s wardrobe for his September 28 release Oh My God (OMG).

But if Eklavya — the Vidhu Vinod Chopra film of 2007 — was right up Rathore’s alley, showcasing his home state of Rajasthan, OMG — in which Akshay plays god! — was a different ball-game altogether. Rathore set out with the brief of creating “stylish” looks that are real and modern-day. For, unlike most screen gods, Akshay needed his look to keep changing. “Most characters who play god wear the same look throughout the movie, but for OMG we designed four-five looks that he rotated. The looks were very interesting and modern-day. They were very clear about what they wanted and Akshay also improvised a lot himself,” says Rathore. There were achkans, shirts, comfortable home clothes et al. Now that’s one helluva stylish god!
