Two Ranchi-based players on Monday were named in the 20 member Indian squad that would be travelling to China to take part in the 4th Junior Wushu Championship.
DAV, Gandhinagar’s Jyoti Kumar and Deepak Kumar of DAV, Khelari, would take part in the Taolu events of the championship that is scheduled to be held from September 17 to 25.
Addressing a news meet on Monday, secretary of Jharkhand Wushu Association Shivendu Dubey said the team would leave for China from New Delhi on September 17.
“It is a wonderful achievement for both the state players, who are currently in Bhopal training at the Sports Authority of India centre. State coach Pradeep Kumar Singh has been selected as the national coach for the event,” Dubey said.
Dubey himself, along with Uday Sahoo, has been appointed as the team manager for the event, with Sanjeev Prasad and R.K. Sinha being named as observers.
