Anouba blank Tiddim 3-0 to stay on top

Imphal, Sept. 9: Anouba Imagi Mangal emerged victorious with a 3-0 goal win against Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union in the 7th Manipur State League played at Mapal Kangjeibung.

Anouba Imagi Mangal not only collected three points from the win to stay on top with nine points but H. Dayananda’s hattrick made him the third player in the league to achieve the feat after Lamminthang Touthang of Eastern Sporting Union and I. Nilakumar Singh of Manipur Police Sports Club.

Suffering consecutive defeats, Tiddim Road Unique Gamy were struggling with their form and the day proved no better, conceding two penalties. Tiddim wasted at least three golden chances to get ahead in first half.

The first half proved to be a barren affair but Anouba Imagi Mangal changed the scorecard from a penalty after Hemanta Singh was brought down by M. Raju Singh in the 59th minute. H. Dayananda Singh made no mistake in converting the spot kick.

H. Dayananda consolidated for his team after getting the better of the keeper in the 75th minute. He completed his hattrick from a penalty in the injury time after T.H.D. William Chiru deliberately handled the ball in the box.

Fifa consultant visit

Fifa turf consultant Anthony Apparially immediately got down to business to provide a final say on the artificial football turf laid at the National Sports Academy complex in Imphal East. Apparially, who landed here yesterday, will leave Imphal tomorrow.

Fifa will study his report and give its final approval and issue necessary certification to the turf.
