Mumbai blaze

Mumbai, Sept. 7 (PTI): A fire broke out on the 12th floor of the First International Financial Centre building in the Bandra-Kurla complex this morning.

Cell security

New Delhi (PTI): Two cases of more than 18,000 mobile phones having the same IMEI, the 15-digit unique code, have been detected on telecom network, Kapil Sibal has said. Such instances make it difficult for security and law enforcement agencies to identify the actual user.

Jail for cheat

New Delhi (PTI): A Delhi court has sentenced a businessman to three years in jail for cheating a nationalised bank of Rs 1.34 crore. Mahesh Kumar was held guilty of taking loans from Canara Bank and channelling them to a fictitious company, thereby causing the loss.

Crash claim

New Delhi (PTI): A Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded a compensation of Rs 16.63 lakh to the family members of a photographer who died on October 16, 2011, after his motorcycle collided with a truck, wrongly parked in the middle of a road.

Pranab visit

New Delhi (PTI): President Pranab Mukherjee will be in Chennai and Tirupati on a two-day visit beginning Saturday. In Chennai, he will attend the valedictory function of the 150 year celebrations of Madras High Court. In Tirupati, Mukherjee will inaugurate the Nandakam complex of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

Boy suicide

Nagpur (PTI): A teenager has allegedly committed suicide after he was scolded for smoking in school, police said. The Class XII student was caught by a teacher while smoking. The school authorities had called his family and complained about him.
