Signature Premier Fashion Week Kolkata, to be held at The Park from September 14 to 17, was launched on Thursday afternoon at The Park. An initiative of Genesis Square, this is the city’s third date with a fashion week after a gap of three years. The line-up includes 24 names — a mix of emerging talent and established designers from across the country. In keeping with their theme of eco fashion, the week will open with a show dedicated to Weaves of Bengal, styled by young designer Paromita Banerjee. The curtains will be brought down by Bollywood fashion guru Manish Malhotra at an off-site venue. Top draws include Bangladeshi designer Bibi Russell, Narendra Kumar, Manoviraj Khosla; designers Monapali, Soumitra Mondal, Abhishek Dutta and Agnimitra Paul will lead the Calcutta list. “I am very happy that we have been able to revive fashion week in Calcutta,” smiled Yudhajit Dutta as the participating designers (in picture above by Rashbehari Das) cheered him on.
