Surgery probe

Bhagalpur, Sept. 6: A homemaker in Jamui has moved court against removal of ute-rus during a surgery allegedly without her knowledge.

Rashma Devi (34) of Dhar-mpur village on Wednesday told the chief judicial magistrate that she had gone to a nursing home in June following abdominal pain.

The owner of the nursing home suggested her to undergo surgery. Devi added that the surgery was conducted at the nursing home and payment was made through the smart health card, which provides health insurance coverage to people belonging to the below poverty line (BPL). On September 4, Rashma said, another doctor told her that her uterus had been removed.

Jamui civil surgeon C. Ch-oudhary said the district magistrate has formed a panel to investigate similar cases as alleged by many BPL women.
