Paul for Bhowanipore

Shib Shankar Paul signed in favour of Bhowanipore from East Bengal while City AC roped in Sanjib Sanyal from Mohun Bagan in the CAB’s inter-club transfers on Wednesday.

Raman arrives

Bengal coach Woorkeri Raman arrived in the city on Wednesday. The Bengal Ranji probables underwent a conditioning camp last month.

Elliot Shield

Thirty-two colleges will participate for the Elliot Shield, which starts Friday. Over 31 matches will be held on a knockout basis and will be played at various grounds.

Selection

Kaustav Chakraborty, the East Zone goalkeeper, has been selected to participate in the final selection trials of Airtel Rising Stars, scheduled to take place in Bangalore later this month.

Snooker meet

Paresh Bhimani defeated Ravi Goenka 62-52, 58-56, 57-24 in the East Zone snooker tournament at the Hindusthan Club on Wednesday. In other matches, Ankit Kariwala beat S.V. Poddar 61-17, 61-39, 63-34 while Mohammed Shoaib Khan beat Nilangshu Haldar 41-9, 68-30, 73-36.

Athletics

Bengal strengthened their position at the top in the East Zone Junior Athletics Championships, after they won number of gold medals on Day Two at the SAI Eastern Centre.
