Ranchi, Sept. 4: The state HRD department will felicitate 205 teachers of government middle and high schools at a programme at Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Namkum, on Wednesday.
The felicitation on the occasion of Teacher’s Day is for the academic year 2010-2011.
At the sub-division level, 130 teachers will receive cash prize of Rs 10,000 each while 75 teachers will get Rs 15,000 each at the district level.
Principal of government plus two high school, Sosoi, Mandar, Govardhan Nath Pandey said he was elated as from his cradle Suman Kumar, an English teacher of Class X, will be felicitated. “Suman deserves the honour. He not only imparts education, but is actively involved in various welfare activities. He also goes out of way to help weak students,” Pandey said.
The awardees from Ranchi district also include Krishna Mahto of Adarsh High School, Rugri; and Anil Kumar Sinha of BIT High School, Mesra.
Mamta, director of secondary education, said the selection was made by district-level committees on the basis of the teachers’ performance both in academics and extra-curricular activities.
The committee, headed by the deputy commissioner of the respective district, also included district education officer, district superintendent of education, two members of state welfare department and senior headmaster of government schools.
She further informed that the Code of Professional Ethics for teachers would be launched on the occasion. “Like doctors, teachers need to follow certain guidelines like how to conduct classes, deal with students and parents among other things,” Mamta said.
