Archery squad ready

Eleven archers from the state on Monday were selected to compete in the recurve and compound categories of the National Prize Money Archery Championship that is scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam from September 22.

While East Singhbhum’s M. Prasanna Kumar was the lone qualifier in the men’s recurve section, the trio of Sita Rani, Gunjan Kumari and Seema Verma made the cut in the women’s category.

The men’s compound section will see Arjun Rao (East Singhbhum), Sudhakar Paswan and Ravi Sardar (Seraikela-Kharsawan) fighting it out for glory, with Jhano Hansda (Jharkhand police) Asrita Kerketta, Neelam Kumari (Seraikela-Kharsawan) and Durgawati Kumari (Silli) donning Jharkhand colours in the women’s section. They have all finished in the top eight of the senior national championship.
