Siliguri, Sept. 2: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is going to set up a cricket academy on a nine-acre plot on the North Bengal University campus.
“The proposed academy, will be the first of its kind in north Bengal. Varsity authorities have assented to provide land for the sports arena,” said Gautam Deb, the north Bengal development minister.
According to Deb, the CAB has decided to set up its academy in NBU because it is centrally located and is well connected to all districts here as well as other parts of the state.
“Officials of the CAB have also decided to organise summer coaching camps on the varsity campus. Initially, there will be three practice grounds, a multi gym and hostels for players,” Deb said.
Officials of the Sports Board of the NBU said a delegation from the CAB had visited the campus in July this year and have sanctioned Rs 3 lakh.
