Bangalore: Nothing matters more to Harbhajan Singh than turning out for India, but he’s fine continuing to wait for his chance to come again.
“It’s a fact that I’m back in the squad after a year... It’s a great feeling... Next is getting into the XI... It’s OK if I have to wait for that to happen and, if required, I’ll go with the drinks trolley till then... The team comes first in every respect,” Harbhajan told The Telegraph.
Speaking on Saturday evening, Harbhajan added: “I’ve learnt a lot in the 12 months that I was away from the India squad... It was such a tough period... Today, though, I’m looking ahead... Jo chala gaya woh beet gaya, ab aage ki sochna hai.”
Harbhajan, who has as many as 406 wickets in Tests and 259 in ODIs, is in the squad for the two T20 Internationals against New Zealand at home and the World T20, in Sri Lanka.
The 32-year-old Harbhajan last played for India in the Trent Bridge Test more than a year ago. An injury saw him lose his place and, then, came other factors.
Incidentally, Harbhajan has just finished a two-month stint with Essex, England Test and ODI captain Alistair Cook’s county.
